Team/Organization Basketball Combine

The Basketball Combine will consist of the following evaluations:

  • Vertical Jump
  • Max Vertical Jump
  • ¾ Court Sprint
  • Lane Agility Drill (SSD)
  • Lane Agility Drill (LQ)
  • Zig-Zag Drill with Basketball
  • Academic Information Session for Parents

Vertical Jump

The Vertical Jump will measure an athlete’s ability to generate power with his/her legs, which is an important factor in the lower-body strength of the athlete. You stand flatfooted on our Fusion Sport Electronic Jump Mat System which will enable Scholar-Athlete Advantage to accurately measure your vertical leap.

Max Vertical Jump

The Max Vertical Jump will measure an athlete’s ability to generate power with his/her legs after taking a running start of 3 steps and finishing with an explosive jump.  It will be measured using the Vertec Measuring Device.  This drill will simulate going for a rebound in a game situation.

¾ Court Sprint

This test is used to determine straight on speed over a distance of 75 feet.  Athletes will start on the baseline in a split stance and run to the opposite free throw line.  Time will be measured by Fusion Sport Electronic Timing Gates.

Lane Agility Drill 1 (sprint, shuffle, backpedal)

This drill will measure the quickness/movement of the player going forward, laterally and backwards.  The athlete will start on 1 side of the lane at the baseline.  He/she will then sprint to the elbow at the top of the lane, shuffle across to the elbow on the other side, backpedal to opposite baseline, shuffle across, shuffle across again, sprint, shuffle and backpedal to the original starting position.  Time will be measured by Fusion Sport Electronic Timing Gates.

Lane Agility Drill 2 (lateral quickness)

This Drill is a test that measures lateral movement. The athlete will start in the center of the lane facing the gate.  When the athlete is set, he/she runs to the one side of the lane and touches with his/her foot. The athlete will then sprint to the other side of the lane and touch the line with his/her foot.  The athlete will then sprint through the center to the other side and finish the drill.  The drill is similar to the Pro Agility (5-10-5) Drill.  Time will be measured by Fusion Sport Electronic Timing Gates.

Zig-Zag Drill with Basketball

This Zig Zag drill will measure the quickness and cutting ability of the player going from left to right with the basketball for ¾ court.  Cones/sticks will be measured at a distance 15 feet apart and 30 feet forward for a total of 75 feet. The athlete must dribble around the cones/sticks at their quickest pace under control for the ¾ court length.  The athlete will be timed from the starting position to the ending position using Fusion Sport Electronic timing Gates.

Academic Information Session

The Academic Information Session for Parents will be open for the parents/guardians of all team combine participants.  All are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this eye opening presentation facilitated by our Director of Academic Advancement.
